What Services Are Covered by Insurance?

Psychiatric Evaluations & Medication Management

Most insurance plans cover psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management visits when medically necessary. Your co-pay and deductible responsibility will vary by plan.

Individual Therapy

Therapy services (CBT, DBT, EMDR, IFS, somatic therapy, art therapy) are typically covered as mental health benefits. Telehealth therapy is covered under most plans in Arizona.

TMS Therapy (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation)

TMS therapy is covered by most major insurance plans, including Cigna, BCBS, UHC, Aetna, TRICARE, and Medicare, for patients who meet medical necessity criteria — typically a diagnosis of major depressive disorder and inadequate response to antidepressant medications. We complete prior authorization before your first session.

Spravato® (Esketamine)

Spravato is covered by most commercial plans, TRICARE, and the VA Community Care Network for patients with treatment-resistant depression who meet eligibility criteria. Prior authorization is required. Our team manages this process for you.

 

GeneSight® Genetic Testing

GeneSight coverage varies widely by plan. Some plans cover it with prior authorization; others consider it out-of-network or a non-covered benefit. We check your GeneSight coverage before ordering the test.

 

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)

Medicine sessions for KAP are self-pay ($350-$450 per session). Integration therapy sessions are billed as standard 60-minute psychotherapy to your insurance and are subject to your standard mental health benefit, co-pay, and deductible.

 

Cash-Pay / Self-Pay Rates

Sonoran Sun Wellness welcomes patients who prefer not to use insurance or who are uninsured. Our current self-pay rates are:

• Initial psychiatric intake appointment: $200

• Medication management follow-up visit: $150

• KAP medicine sessions: $350 per session (standard) / $450 per session (KAP + Reiki)

 

Therapy session fees are set by individual therapist and available upon request.

 

For Veterans: TRICARE & VA Community Care

Sonoran Sun Wellness is honored to serve veterans and active-duty service members. We accept TRICARE (Prime, Select, Reserve Select, and Young Adult plans) and VA Community Care Network referrals for psychiatric evaluations, medication management, therapy, TMS, and Spravato.

 

Veterans: please bring your TRICARE card or VA referral authorization to your first appointment. Call our office if you have questions about the VA Community Care Network referral process — our team will help you navigate it.

 

AHCCCS (Arizona Medicaid)

We accept AHCCCS for qualifying psychiatric services. Coverage through AHCCCS is subject to medical necessity and plan-specific benefit structures. Call us to verify whether your specific AHCCCS plan is accepted prior to scheduling.
